1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Humboldt County Crash on Highway 101 Near Myers Flat
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (November 19, 2022) – A crash killed one person and seriously injured another on Highway 101 near Myers Flat in Humboldt County.
According to a report published by the KYMKEMP, the tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol reported the wreck at about 3:54 p.m. near Dyerville Loop.
The incident happened when two vehicles collided head-on for an unknown reason in Humboldt County. The cars crashed on southbound Highway 101 at mile marker 30.3 between Myers Flat and Weott.
2 Cars Collide
CHP described the two vehicles as a white sedan and a black SUV which obtained major damage due to the impact of the collision. One of them caught fire in the process.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and confirmed that one individual died. Another party ended up hurt as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down near Myers Flat following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Humboldt County crash is still under investigation.
