
2 Badly Injured in Humboldt County Crash on Highway 101 Near Tompkins Hill
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (February 28, 2023) – A crash badly injured two people on Highway 101 near Tompkins Hill Road in Humboldt County.
According to an article published by the KYMKEMP, the accident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on February 28 at about 12:25 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said at least seven vehicles spun out of control for an unknown reason and collided in Humboldt County.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
The cars crashed on southbound Highway 101 near the Tompkins Hill Road exit. A CHP dispatch described two of the vehicles involved as a gray 2017 Volkswagen Jetta and a Volvo.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found two people hurt. The victims sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed both patients to the hospital for treatment. The names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time were not released.
Meanwhile, officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down near Tompkins following the wreck. The cause of the Humboldt County crash is still under investigation.
