Teen Killed in Hit-and-run Crash Identified
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (August 10, 2018) – An 18-year-old Eureka man has been identified as the victim of a hit-and-run collision that took place on a Wednesday morning on the northbound US Highway 101 in Humboldt County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The teenager’s body was found on August 1, 2018 about 3:12 a.m. in the roadway, just south of Humbodt Hill Road off ramp. The victim’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, according to an autopsy report. It turns out that a driver fled the scene of the crash without stopping to help the young person.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation. They are asking anyone with information to call 822-5981 or 268-2000.
HUMBOLDT COUNTY INVESTIGATION
At this time, it’s unknown who is at fault for this tragedy. Hopefully police will be able to piece together evidence to locate the suspect or they will be turned in.
