4 Killed in Small Plane Crash in Humboldt County
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (July 16, 2021) – Hunter Punt, 69, of Los Angeles County, and Steve Sanz, 63, of Orange County, were among four killed in Thursday’s plane crash near Dinsmore Airport.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office identified a total of four people who died in the crash along Highway 36. The other two killed in the collision were:
- Jacquie Ann Figg, 56, of San Bernadino County;
- Kenneth John Malinowski, 62, of Sacramento County;
It’s unknown at this time which person was the pilot and what the relationship is among the victims. Also, an investigation is underway by the Humboldt Sheriff’s Office into the cause of the deadly crash.
The fixed-wing single-engine Mooney M20J plane reportedly crashed near the airport at approximately 11:54 a.m., according to sheriff’s deputies and a report by CBS 13 Sacramento.
Furthermore, the cause of the fiery plane crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board.
