Car Crashes Under Truck at Butte and Gale Avenues
HURON, California (August 28, 2017) – At least one person has died when their car collided with a truck hauling tomatoes Monday morning at Butte and Gale avenues, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The fatal crash was reported about 7:51 a.m. this morning, just west of the Los Gatos Tomato Products plant on Gale Avenue.
The CHP report stated that one person was trapped in a vehicle underneath the semi-tractor trailer truck. The person was unresponsive after the crash and died at the scene. The truck went off the roadway about 500 feet into a nearby field.
Truck Accident Investigation
Police are piecing together what led to this collision and will determine liability. The truck driver and the owner of the truck can both be held liable for a victim’s injuries or death if they were determined by police to be negligent. A truck is a massive vehicle whose operator is held to strict road regulations. Police may decide to file a criminal complain under some circumstances. The surviving family of a victim who is killed in this type of crash may file a wrongful death claim.
