Hye Kim, Carlos Soto Killed in 10 Freeway Crash in Ontario

Two Killed in Crash with Semi-Truck on Interstate 10 Identified

ONTARIO, Calif., (April 1, 2026) — Hye Kim, 52, of Pomona, and Carlos Soto, 26, of Montclair, have been identified as the two who died in a crash involving a semi-truck and six cars in Ontario this past Sunday on the Interstate 10 Freeway, near the 4th Street exit.

The collision occurred at around 11:53 p.m. on March 29th on the westbound side of the I-10, just west of Fourth Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. A semi-truck reportedly collided with multiple vehicles, with the impact so severe that one vehicle was split in half, according to initial reports.

Emergency responders from the Ontario Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol quickly arrived at the scene. A total of seven vehicles, including the big rig truck, a gray Volkswagen sedan, and a red Lexus SUV, were involved. Authorities issued a SigAlert, diverting traffic off at 4th Street to clear the area and manage the situation.

Hye Kim was a driver of one of the vehicles, and Carlos Soto was a passenger in a second vehicle. Both of them died at the scene and were later identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.

Two others were transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision. They are encouraging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
