Ibrahim Homran, 23, Seriously injured in Porterville Crash on Southbound Highway 65
PORTERVILLE, CA (August 6, 2021) – A fatal crash left Ibrahim Homran seriously injured on Highway 65 in Porterville.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 23-year-old man as one of the drivers in the wreck which occurred on Friday.
The incident began when Ibrahim Homran was driving a 2021 GMC south on Highway 65 towards Morton Avenue in Porterville.
At the same time, a 2014 International carrying diesel tank and a 2003 Honda were also traveling southbound. For an unknown reason, the semi-truck encountered a tire failure.
In the process, the International struck the guardrail and became disabled. CHP said the truck ended up blocking both lanes of the highway.
Semi-Truck, 2 Cars Collide
Both the GMC and the Honda then hit the left rear of the International semi. The impact forced the truck into the center median, where its fuel spilled onto the road.
Ibrahim Homran and a passenger riding the Honda sustained major injuries as a result of the Porterville crash. CHP later confirmed that the driver of the Honda died.
A helicopter took Ibrahim Homran to the Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment. A ground ambulance also rushed the other patient to the same hospital for further aid.
FOX 26 News and ABC 30 News wrote that the collision took place at around 3:12 a.m. Officers forced both southbound lanes of Highway 65 to shut down for hours following the accident.
The cause of the tragic wreck is still under investigation.
