VENTURA (August 8, 2016)- Ida Murphy, 78, was walking her dog when both were fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday at the intersection of Telephone Road and Ramelli Avenue.
The incident occurred at in the evening at 6:22 p.m. when a 25-year-old man heading northbound on Ramelli attempted to make a left turn onto Telephone Road before hitting the Murphy and her dog who were in the crosswalk.
Ida Murphy was rushed to the hospital where she died of her injuries.
The woman’s dog was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police officials do not expect any drugs or alcohol to have been involved in the incident but liability will be held against the driver.
