Ignacio Guzman-Corona, 47, Killed in Coachella Crash at Highway 86 and Avenue 50
COACHELLA, CA (May 14, 2021) – Ignacio Guzman-Corona was killed after a car crash at Highway 86 and Avenue 50 in Coachella.
The Riverside County Coroner’s office identified the 47-year-old Palm Desert man as the victim of the fatal wreck on Thursday morning.
The incident happened on May 13 when Ignacio Guzman-Corona was riding a sedan south on Highway 86 in Coachella.
For an unknown reason, a big rig collided with the car. The California Highway Patrol said the two crashed at the intersection of Highway 86 and Avenue 50.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then rescued one trapped occupant from the wreckage. Two people, including Ignacio Guzman-Corona, died at the scene.
Two more patients sustained minor to moderate injuries due to the impact of the wreck. Medical personnel soon took them to an area hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, CHP forced southbound State Route 86 to shut down at the Interstate 10 for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the Coachella crash is still under investigation.
