Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Vehicle at Elkhorn Boulevard and Butterball Way
North Highlands, CA (March 14, 2023) – Police arrested 32-year-old Ilya Shamailov in relation with a deadly pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of Elkhorn Boulevard and Butterball Way.
The Sacramento Bee News reported Shamailov was behind the wheel of a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette heading east on Elkhorn. According to the article published online, the Corvette entered the intersection at a high rate of speed and hit a male party crossing the street. Our sources confirmed the collision instantly killed the pedestrian. Responding paramedics sadly pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said they will release the name of the deceased once family is notified.
Authorities added a female passenger in the Corvette sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. Medical personnel rushed the woman to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
DUI Suspect Arrested After North Highlands Deadly Pedestrian Accident
Meanwhile, Shamailov reportedly suffered minor injuries and was first provided medical aid before being booked at the Sacramento County Jail. Police mentioned Ilya Shamailov showed signs of intoxication, and was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
Detectives handling the case continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident that happened at Elkhorn Boulevard and Butterball Way.
