Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle Near Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area
Imperial County, CA (August 10, 2022) – A 57-year-old male died following a pedestrian accident that occurred on the Interstate 8 Freeway, the Desert Review News reported.
On August 5, Friday, a vehicle struck a man in the westbound side of the freeway near the Jaime Obeso Sunbeam Rest Area. For reasons still unclear, the pedestrian walked into the traffic lanes. According to the article published online, the man stepped into the path of an oncoming 1997 Mitsubishi box truck.
The driver was unable to avoid, and hit the male party. Our sources indicated the catastrophic incident took place at approximately 1:30 p.m.

When rescue teams arrived at the location, they immediately attended to the pedestrian injured in the crash. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, details on the driver involved in the horrible crash have not been discussed thus far.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole afternoon. They continue to investigate at this time to determine liability in the deadly accident that happened on Interstate 8 in Imperial County.
