
Driver, Passenger Killed in Collision Near SR-78
Imperial County, CA (April 4, 2023) – Two people died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 86, the Imperial Valley Press News reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed 60-year-old Eliceo Moreno was behind the wheel of a 2023 Peterbilt heading north on SR-86. In the area just north of SR-78, an unknown vehicle slammed into the rear of the Peterbilt. Officials said the unknown vehicle was rear-ended and pushed by a big rig. Due to the force from the impact, the unidentified vehicle burst into flames.
Deadly Car Accident in Imperial County
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found the driver and passenger in the unidentified vehicle both unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victims but they sadly succumbed to their injuries and passed away. The identities of the deceased parties remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, Eliceo Moreno and the driver of the big rig both appeared unharmed after the crash.
Detectives assigned to handle the case stayed and the cooperated with the investigation process. Authorities continue to work to determine the precise cause of the deadly car accident that happened on State Route 86 in Imperial County.
