Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Redondo, 23, Killed in Car Crash
IMPERIAL COUNTY, CA (June 27, 2021) – A crash killed Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Redondo near Forrester Road and Aten Road in Imperial County.
Authorities identified the 23-year-old man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Saturday evening.
The incident happened when Deputy Anthony Redondo was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, west of the city of Imperial. He then collided with a pickup truck near the intersection of Forrester and Aten roads.
Both cars overturned and came to a complete stop in the field. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the Imperial County sheriff’s deputy dead at the scene.
2 Cars Collide Near Forrester and Aten Roads
Calexico Chronicle wrote that the collision occurred on June 26 at around 7:40 p.m. At least three other people ended up hurt as a result of the wreck.
Air ambulances soon took two parties to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A ground ambulance transported the third patient with unspecified injuries.
Meanwhile, witnesses claimed that a driver involved was traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light. They added that the speeding vehicle slammed into the other car.
Officers forced the area of Aten and Forrester roads to shut down for a time following the collision. Meanwhile, the fatal Imperial County crash is still under investigation.
