INDIO, California (December 27, 2016) -Suspected drunk driver Juan Gomez, 42, of Indio, was arrested after he allegedly caused a collision injuring 14 people and three vehicles on Monday night, according to the Press Enterprise.
The crash took place about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Avenue 48 and Monroe Street.
Gomez was driving a Ford Explorer SUV at a high rate of speed, police said. He allegedly sideswiped a Toyota Camry and then crashed into the back of a Nissan SUV which subsequently struck a Honda SUV.
There were four people who suffered major injuries and ten others who had minor to moderate injuries including two who were treated a the scene and released. Eight were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
