INDIO, California (January 19, 2015) – At least one person suffered major injuries Monday morning in a collision involving two drivers on Grapefruit Boulevard at Avenue 54, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
The traffic accident was reported about 5:23 a.m. CHP officers responded to the crash between the drivers of a gray 2015 Nissan Versa sedan and a black 4-door Ford Escape.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and transported at least one person to Desert Regional Medical Center where they were treated for major injuries.
Indio and Riverside County Accident Statistics
Traffic accidents in the city of Indio killed six people and injured 198 others in 2012, according to statistics compiled by the CHP’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Report. Additionally, there were 202 people killed and 7,446 injured in collisions reported in Riverside County the same year, the report said.
“Police will head up an investigation into this crash to determine liability,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Their findings will be shared with those involved.”
