2 Pedestrians Critically Injured in Indio Hit-and-Run Crash on Monroe Street
INDIO, CA (July 19, 2021) – Two pedestrians were critically injured after hit-and-run crash on Monroe Street in Indio.
According to The Desert Sun and KESQ News, the accident took place last week on Friday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 11:50 a.m.
The incident happened on July 16 when two pedestrians were outside their vehicle and were changing a flat tire on Monroe Street in Indio.
Police said a vehicle approached and then for an unknown reason struck the two people. The driver hit them north of Avenue 51.
Victims Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found both victims left lying on the ground as a result of the crash. They sustained severe injuries upon impact.
Medical personnel rushed both patients to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and listed them in critical condition. Officials did not release their names.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist abandoned his car after hitting the pedestrians and fled on foot. Officers described the vehicle as a pickup truck.
Authorities forced a portion of Monroe Street to shut down for a time following the collision. The Indio crash is still under investigation.
