The collision took place at 3:30 p.m.
In an article by KMIR, the Indio Police officer was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan Murano driven by 53-year old Margaret Kendric.
The police officer was immediately transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. KMIR initially reported that the victim was believed to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Kendric, of Orange, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs. The investigation is still ongoing.
