Victim ID’d as Naomi Bruce, 66
INDIO, California (March 26 2016) – A woman and her dog were killed after being struck at the intersection of Fred Waring and Heritage Palms drives on Monday morning, according to The Desert Sun.
The incident occurred at around 7 a.m.
Indio police said the pedestrian and her dog were crossing the street when they were hit by a Toyota pickup truck which was headed east on Fred Waring at the time.
The woman died at the scene. She was identified as 66-year-old Naomi Bruce, of Indio.
The dog also suffered fatal injuries.
As per The Desert Sun, police added that the Toyota had two children inside when the collision took place. The driver stayed and cooperated with the authorities.
Alcohol or drugs did not appear to have played a role in the accident which remains under investigation.
