INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 1, 2023) — A multi-vehicle crash happened Wednesday morning on the Interstate 405 Freeway, just north of West Century Boulevard in Inglewood.
The 5-vehicle collision occurred in the southbound lanes of the I-405 about 5:02 a.m. on March 1st, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Police issued a SigAlert at 5:23 a.m. due to multiple lanes being blocked by vehicles.
The drivers of a gray Tesla Model 3, a gray Toyota Avalon, a white SUV, a black Tesla sedan, and one other were involved. Two of the vehicles had major damage including a black Tesla sedan facing sideways and the Tesla facing the wrong way in the carpool lane, police said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the 405 Freeway to help those involved in the Inglewood crash and they reported at least one person had major injuries.
Paramedics transported the injured by ambulance to a hospital for further treatment, but there are no further details at this time.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed at least three of the vehicles and traffic lanes reopened by 6:36 a.m., the report said.
Investigators are piecing together what happened and will determine fault for the 405 Freeway crash in Inglewood.
