Suspected DUI Crash on Carpenter Ave in Valley Village
VALLEY VILLAGE, Calif. (May 12, 2020) — Daniel Joseph Silva, 25, a tattoo artist who rose to fame after appearing on the television reality show, “Ink Master,” is facing murder charges after crashing a high-end sports car and killing his passenger, YouTube comedian, Corey La Barrie, 25.
La Barrie was riding in the 2020 McLaren 600LT sports car when Silva reportedly ran a stop sign and crashed into a tree in this San Fernando Valley community.
The pair had been at a party celebrating La Barrie’s 25th birthday and both young men were allegedly drunk at the time, according to TMZ.
The collision took place about 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, May 10th in the 4900 block of Carpenter Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics responded to the scene and rushed La Barrie to a hospital, but unfortunately he died of his injuries. La Barrie had hundreds of thousands of followers on social media and appeared on the YouTube series “The Reality House.”
Meanwhile, Silva managed to get out of the vehicle on his own and tried to walk away, but he was stopped by bystanders. He was treated for injuries at the hospital and on Monday he was arrested and charged with murder. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Silva worked as a tattoo artist for roughly three years before he appeared on the 10th season of “Ink Masters and also an episode of the show’s spinoff, “Ink Master: Angels.”
The Los Angeles Police Department is heading up the investigation.
