BISHOP: Fatal head-on collision Highway 190 in Death Valley INYO COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 27, 2019) — A 51-year-old woman died Saturday in a head-on collision on State Route 190 near Death Valley Junction.

Seven others were injured in the crash that took place about 13 miles west of the junction with California State Route 127, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collison was reported at 5:27 p.m. on California 190 when a 29-year-old Albuquerque, N.M., man driving eastbound in a 2018 Nissan Sentra attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle and crashed head-on into an oncoming 2018 Honda Accord.

The woman who died had been a passenger in the Honda, the CHP said.

Paramedics responded to treat seven people who were injured in the collision, but there were no further details.

The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
