Irma Neris Medrano, 44, Injured in Fatal Crash on Carmel Valley Road
CARMEL VALLEY, CA (October 8, 2021) – Irma Neris Medrano was injured after a fatal car crash on Carmel Valley Road near Schulte Road.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 44-year-old Salinas woman as one of the victims in the wreck which occurred on Friday afternoon.
The incident began when Irma Neris Medrano was driving a 2021 Toyota Highlander on Carmel Valley Road. At the same time, Catherine Poma was traveling in her Jeep.
For an unknown reason, the Jeep swerved into oncoming traffic and clipped a pickup truck. The pickup truck then flipped over and went off an embankment.
1 Killed in Carmel Valley Car Collision
In the process, Irma Neris Medrano became involved in the crash. CHP said she sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision near Schulte Road.
The KION News and KSBW News, wrote that the accident took place at around 12:45 p.m. in Carmel Valley. The driver of the pickup truck died following the wreck.
Catherine Poma, 29, of Salinas, survived with moderate injuries. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and provided treatment to the two wounded patients.
CHP forced the road to shut down for several hours after the collision. The cause of the Carmel Valley crash is still under investigation.
