Driver Killed in San Diego Crash at Mount Everest Boulevard, Balboa Ave
SAN DIEGO, California (May 24, 2021) – Irvin Antonio Rojas, 22, died in a crash on May 16th n the Clairemont Mesa West area.
The young man, known as Toño to his family, was a student at UC San Diego and was about to graduate from college. He planned to further his biochemistry career in the fall at the University of North Carolina’s Chapel Hill graduate program.
However, about 10:20 p.m. on May 16th he lost his life in a collision with a driver in a 2016 Toyota Camry.
A 29-year-old woman driving the car eastbound on Balboa Avenue crashed into a northbound 2018 Honda driven by Irvin Rojas. The collision happened at Mount Everest Boulevard and Balboa Avenue, police said.
The woman in the Toyota was traveling eastbound on Balboa Avenue. For unknown reasons she crashed into the side of the Honda.
Sadly, police say Irvin Antonio Rojas died at the intersection where the crash took place.
Meanwhile, the other driver suffered major injuries and was hospitalized. San Diego police are working to determine what led to the collision and are urging witnesses to contact them.
The crash remains under investigation.
