2 Killed in Irvine Crash at Meadow Valley and Spring Valley
IRVINE, CA (July 18, 2022) – A DUI crash at Meadow Valley and Spring Valley killed two people in Irvine.
According to The Orange County Register and My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Sunday night. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 8 p.m.
The incident happened on July 17 when a Volkswagen Golf was traveling at a high rate of speed in the Northpark gated community of Irvine.
Police said the Volkswagen then slammed into the rear of a Mini Cooper at the intersection of Meadow Valley and Spring Valley. The Mini Cooper became fully engulfed in flames due to the impact of the collision.
Speeding DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters arrived and pronounced the two occupants in the burning car dead at the scene. The names of the deceased victims have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, paramedics took the male driver of the Volkswagen for treatment of unknown injuries. Police determined that he was under the influence of drugs when he hit the other vehicle.
They soon arrested the man on suspicion of DUI. Officers forced the area of Meadow Valley and Spring Valley to shut down for hours following the wreck.
