Transgender Woman ID’d as Isaac Romero Killed in Fresno Crash
FRESNO, Calif. (April 24, 2020) — Isaac Romero, 27, of Fresno, was struck and killed Thursday night in a car accident crossing East Shields Avenue in central Fresno.
The pedestrian was struck about 9:15 p.m., according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office stated that Romero self-identified as transgender.
Romero was struck down in the right lane of westbound Shields, the coroner said. Meanwhile, the driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation. The man driving the car told officers that he was unable to avoid hitting Romero because he didn’t see the pedestrian until she was in front of his vehicle.
Police do not suspect alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation to determine fault.
