Isabella Villegas Nevarez Died in Crash at Avenue 13 and Road 23

Woman, 21, Killed in Madera County Collision is Identified

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2025) — Two people, including Isabella Marlene Villegas Nevarez, 21, died after a collision involving a big rig truck and an SUV on Wednesday morning at Avenue 13 and Road 23 in Madera County, authorities said.

The young woman, a passenger in the SUV, was with at least three friends who were heading to a barbecue when the crash occurred around 10:50 a.m. on Dec. 31st, according to news reports and a California Highway Patrol incident log. CHP officers received multiple notifications, including an automatic crash alert from an iPhone, and determined that two vehicles were involved — a semi-truck and a Honda CR-V.

The occupants in the Honda CR-V were traveling westbound on Avenue 13. Upon reaching a stop sign at Road 23 the driver reportedly drove into the path of an oncoming semi-truck that had no stop sign and the two vehicles collided.

Fire, emergency medical services, and Cal Fire units were dispatched to the scene, along with Madera County resources. County roads officials initiated a closure in the area to allow emergency crews to work and to facilitate the investigation.

Tow trucks removed the SUV and the semi-truck from the scene.

Three people with unknown injuries were transported to a hospital, and two died from their injuries. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but investigators are working to determine if alcohol was a factor.

Meanwhile, the family of the young woman who died has a GoFundMe page to help cover her funeral and memorial services.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
