Motorcyclist Isaias Piceno, 20, Killed in Merced Crash at Santa Fe Drive and Avenue 2
MERCED (September 23, 2019) – A motorcyclist killed after a traffic collision in the area of Santa Fe Drive and Avenue 2 Friday has been identified.
California Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Isaias Piceno died in the accident which occurred on September 20 just before 2:30 p.m.
The Winton man was riding a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Santa Fe Drive approaching the Avenue 2 intersection when he collided with a 2001 Nissan Altima.

According to reports by the Merced Sun Star and ABC 30 News, prior to the crash the Nissan Altima turned left from Avenue 2 after stopping at the stop sign.
Its driver, 61-year-old Winton resident Debra Ann Lay, allegedly failed to yield to the motorcyclist and went directly into his path. The two ultimately crashed.
Piceno was ejected from his motorcycle as a result of the wreck. Paramedics responded to the site and pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that Lay stopped following the incident and cooperated with the authorities. The collision remains under investigation.
