Fatal Head-On Collision on Highway 101
Paso Robles, CA (March 15, 2023) – Isaldo Arellano Santiago, a 38-year-old man, died following a suspected DUI crash that occurred on Highway 101 Tuesday night, March 14.
The KSBY News reported Santiago was behind the wheel of a vehicle heading north on SR-101. When Santiago approached the area near Wellsona Road, a vehicle traveling east on Wellsona turned south into the northbound lanes of the highway. Officials said the wrong-way vehicle slammed head-on into Santiago.
The catastrophic incident took place around 11:18 p.m.
According to the article published online, Isaldo Arellano Santiago suffered fatal injuries in the collision. Responding paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Authorities added a passenger in the wrong-way vehicle sustained injuries and received treatment at the site. Personal information on the injured passenger remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Deadly Car Accident in Paso Robles
Meanwhile, police said the wrong-way driver showed signs of intoxication during the investigation process. Given that, the 33-year-old motorist was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Detectives continue to gather additional information surrounding the deadly accident that happened on Highway 101 in Paso Robles.
