Livingston Man Killed in Bicycle Accident is Identified
MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2021) — Isidro Ramirez, 69, of Livingston, died following a bicycle accident while riding on Highway 140 in Merced County.
The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified a cyclist. The collision happened about 4:20 a.m. on Oct. 17th on Highway 140, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers responded to the collision just east of Lincoln Boulevard. They report that Ramirez was riding a bicycle eastbound in the eastbound lane of Highway 140. A driver traveling eastbound in a 1997 GMC Sierra struck him from behind.
Paramedics transported Isidro Ramirez to Mercy Medical Center in Merced. The Livingston man later died at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle cooperated with police officers working on the case. Officials do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision, according to the CHP.
Finally, investigators with the CHP are working on the case and will determine liability for the collision.
