Man Dies in Collision Near Treasure Island
San Francisco, CA (June 21, 2022) – Ismael Vidal Ramirez, a 22-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a car accident that occurred on Interstate 80 at the Bay Bridge.
The East Bay Times News reported Ramirez, of Contra Costa County, was a rear passenger in a 2007 Infiniti M45 traveling on I-80. When the vehicle approached the area near Treasure Island, it apparently experienced a mechanical issue and came to a stop.
According to the article published online, less than a minute after the Infiniti stopped, a 2014 Nissan Frontier pickup truck slammed into its back. The force from the impact resulted in significant damage to the Infiniti.
Emergency crews arrived at the location shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday. Responding paramedics found at least one passenger in the Infiniti unconscious. Despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel, the victim sadly passed away at the scene. Authorities identified the deceased as Ismael Vidal Ramirez.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned the driver of the stopped car reportedly showed signs of intoxication. Police then arrested the 22-year-old San Francisco woman on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Further investigation on the deadly crash is underway.
