Israel Cruz, 47, Kills Man in Pajaro DUI Head-On Crash on Hall Road
PAJARO, CA (June 15, 2021) – Authorities detained Israel Cruz after a fatal DUI car crash on Hall Road in Pajaro.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 47-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred on Sunday.
The incident began when Israel Cruz was driving a 2004 Toyota pickup truck east on Hall Road in Pajaro. He then crossed over the double yellow lines and sideswiped a Volvo sedan.
CHP said the pickup then slammed head-on into a 1992 Toyota sedan. The 1992 model car rolled over and ultimately collided with a Honda sedan.
Several Injured in Multi-Car Collision
Firefighters along with the paramedics pronounced the driver of the Toyota sedan, a Watsonville man, dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The Pajaronian and KION News wrote that the collision took place on June 13 shortly after midnight. Meanwhile, the occupants of the other vehicles involved survived the wreck with minor wounds.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that Israel Cruz sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Medical personnel took him to a hospital for treatment.
Authorities soon arrested and took Israel Cruz into custody for DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The Pajaro DUI crash is still under investigation.
