PICO RIVERA, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2023) – Israel Hernandez, 40, died in a pedestrian accident early Monday on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Pico Rivera.
The 40-year-old man died in a collision about 3 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21st in the southbound lanes of the I-605 Freeway at Rose Hills Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It’s unknown at this time what led up to the traffic accident or why he was on the freeway. Paramedics responded to help the injured person, but there are no further details.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim on their website.
Police issued a SigAlert at 3:22 a.m. and closed down all southbound lanes of the freeway. Police reopened the HOV lane at 4:20 a.m.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the fatal pedestrian accident on the 605 Freeway.
