Sanger Man, 60, Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash in Fresno County

 Israel Lara Fatal Fresno County Crash Highway 180, Oliver Ave (August 7)FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (August 12, 2021) — Israel Lara, 60, of Sanger, died Saturday afternoon in a 3-vehicle collision at Highway 180 and Oliver Avenue near Sanger in Fresno County.

The collision happened about 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, August 7th, , according to California Highway Patrol.

The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner released the victim’s name on Sunday, August 8th after family members were notified.

Israel Lara was driving a Ford Escort southbound on Oliver Avenue. He reportedly stopped at the intersection, but then continued through it in front of a westbound Hyundai Tucson on Highway 180.

The Hyundai crashed into the driver’s side door of the Ford Escort.

The man in his 40s driving the Hyundai stopped. However, a man in his 30s driving a Ford Econoline van was unable to avoid hitting the Hyundai and crashed into the vehicle.

The three vehicles wound up on the northwest side of Oliver Avenue, just north of Highway 180.

Sadly, Israel Lara suffered major injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the occupants in the other two vehicles suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported them to a local hospital.
