DUI Suspect in Crash that Killed a Woman in Koreatown

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (August 31, 2026) – Ittai Arenas Rodriguez, 33, died on Friday in a crash at Eight Street and Ardmore Avenue in Koreatown involving an alleged drunk driver who was speeding in a Mercedes-Maybach SUV.

The young mother of two children died following the crash at 12:35 a.m. on Friday, August 28th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities stated that Ittai Arenas Rodriguez was making a food delivery when the speeding SUV crashed into her vehicle, causing her car to hit a pole on the sidewalk and the SUV to crash into a building.

Relatives of the woman who died told news reporters she recently graduated from culinary school. A vigil was held to remember the young mother of two whose sudden death has shaken the community. Friends and family say she had two job offers and had just purchased her new vehicle a week ago.

Meanwhile, the woman driving the SUV was taken from the scene on a stretcher and police believe she was driving under the influence of alcohol and or drugs at the time of the collision.
