VISTA (July 11, 2017)- According to the Village News, Ivan Hernandez, 5, of Vista, has been identified as the boy fatally struck by a vehicle Friday.
Authorities received notice of the collision at 10:48 a.m. at the 800 block of Bovier Road involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
According to the report, Ivan Hernandez was walking with his mother and siblings but trailing a bit behind. As he began running to catch up he was suddenly hit by an oncoming vehicle.
The young boy was airlifted from the scene by helicopter to Rady’s Children Hospital before sadly succumbing to his injuries just before noon.
He was determined to have died due to severe trauma to his head and chest.
No information was included regarding the status of the driver while the San Diego Sheriff’s Department will man the investigation.
Based on this news report, it remains unclear if the driver will be held liable for hitting the boy. There are still several unanswered questions here.
