Ivan Mejia Injured, Man Killed in Desert Hot Springs DUI Crash on Dillon Road
DESERT HOT SPRINGS (June 7, 2018) – A passenger was seriously injured after an alleged DUI crash that also killed another on Dillon Road Tuesday evening, according to KESQ.
The wounded victim has been identified as 23-year-old Ivan Daniel Mejia, of Desert Hot Springs.
As per the report, California Highway Patrol said a 1998 Honda SUV slammed into a tree and drove off of Dillon Road. The crash occurred just before 7 p.m., west of Bennett Road.
Marco Alvarez Arrested For DUI
Mejia, who was riding as a passenger in the SUV at the time, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with unspecified injuries. His condition at this time was not disclosed.
The other male occupant was also hospitalized but later died. Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Desert Hot Springs man driving the Honda was reportedly seriously injured and was believed to have been under the influence of drugs when the wreck took place.
The suspect, Marco Antonio Alvarez, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs causing injury and could face additional charges.
