Rudy Carrasco, 48, Victim in Tulare Crash at H Street and San Joaquin Avenue
TULARE (March 7, 2020) – Authorities detained the alleged DUI driver in a crash at H Street and San Joaquin Avenue that killed a high school dean last week on Thursday.
Police determined that 23-year-old Izeah Almaguer was under the influence of alcohol when the fatal accident occurred on February 27.
Officers said Almaguer was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign at the intersection of North H Street and San Joaquin Avenue.
According to reports by Visalia Times Delta and The Fresno Bee, Almaguer’s car then broadsided a Toyota Prius . The wreck took place at around 5:30 p.m.
Suspected Drunk Driver ID’d as Izeah Almaguer, 23
Firefighters extricated the motorist trapped inside the Prius and took him to Kaweah Delta, where he later died. Officials identified him as 48-year-old Rudy Carrasco, of Woodlake.
Carrasco was the beloved dean of Tulare Western High School. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Almaguer was uncooperative and was hospitalized for leg pain.
Officers later arrested the Tulare man and booked him into Tulare County Jail on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular homicide.
