Jack Cogburn, 88, Killed in Yuba County Fatal Crash on Forty Mile Road
YUBA COUNTY, CA (May 29, 2023) – A fatal crash left Jack Cogburn seriously injured on Forty Mile Road in Yuba County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 88-year-old Brownsville man as the victim in the wreck which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Jack Cogburn was driving a Dodge Ram 3500 south on Forty Mile Road in Yuba County. At the same time, a Mazda 6 sedan was going north.
For an unknown reason, the Mazda made an unsafe turning movement to the left into the southbound lane. CHP said in the process, the sedan slammed head-on into the pickup truck.
Woman Killed in Wreck
The two cars crashed south of Hoffman Plumas Road. The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News wrote that the accident occurred on May 27 at around 7:50 a.m.
Jack Cogburn sustained major injuries, including a broken leg, as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
Officers confirmed that the woman driving the Mazda died following the collision. Meanwhile, CHP forced a stretch of Forty Mile Road to shut down for a time after the wreck.
The cause of the Yuba County crash is still under investigation.
