Fatal 2-Vehicle Collision at Jackson and Bacon
Salida, CA (January 18, 2023) – Jackson Upton, a 19-year-old Modesto resident, died following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Jackson and Bacon Road.
The Modesto Bee News reported 19-year-old James Jacobs III was behind the wheel of a Honda CRV heading south on Jackson. Preliminary investigation revealed Jacobs III ran the stop sign at the Bacon intersection, and ended up driving directly into the path of an eastbound Dodge RAM. Officials said the Dodge slammed into the right side of the Honda, causing both vehicles to careen off the roadway. Our sources indicated the cars came to a rest at a nearby almond orchard.
The horrible crash took place on January 17, Tuesday.
Deadly Car Accident in Salida
Shortly after 4:13 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the location. First responders found the passenger unconscious in the Honda. Despite life-saving measures performed by paramedics, the victims sadly succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the fatal victim as Jackson Upton.
Authorities added the driver of the Dodge, a 62-year-old Salida man, sustained minor injuries in the collision.
At this time, detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident that happened at Jackson and Bacon Road in Salida.
