Motorcyclist Killed in Chula Vista Crash Identified
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (February 10, 2022) – Jacob Cogburn, 49, of Chula Vista, died in a motorcycle accident at Telegraph Canyon Road and Medical Center Drive in Chula Vista.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the traffic accident took place about 7:20 a.m. on Sunday morning on Feb. 6th.
The incident began when the eastbound motorcycle on Telegraph Canyon Road came up to the intersection with Medical Center Drive. Police are investigating whether the motorcycle rider drove through a red light when it collided with a vehicle making a left turn.
Police say a car was making a turn from northbound Medical Center onto westbound Telegraph Canyon.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the rider down on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed the injured motorcycle rider to a trauma center where he later died in the emergency room. The San Diego Medical Examiner identified the motorcycle rider as Jacob Andrew Cogburn on its website.
Meanwhile, police did not mention if the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the bike. The Chula Vista Police Department is heading up an investigation.
Officers closed down Telegraph Canyon and Medical Center following the wreck.
