Wrongful Death Investigation
The investigation into a collision such as this one begins immediately at the scene, but will continue as police piece together evidence and speak with any witnesses. There are certainly many unanswered questions about what happened. We do not know for certain whether one of the drivers was DUI or whether speed or any traffic violations contributed to the collision.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Jacob Farrand.
There are many steps that should be taken following a collision to ensure your legal rights are protected, but this can vary depending on the circumstances. When a DUI is involved, the driver may face both criminal charges and a civil lawsuit.
An injured person should seek out immediate and ongoing medical care until they are completely better. If someone has died, a wrongful death claim may be pursued by surviving family members against those responsible and or their insurance company.
Keep in mind that there are times when a government entity or an employer of an involved motorist that may share responsibility for an accident. All responsible parties can be identified during the investigation.
