Truck Driver Jaime Moreno, 65, Injured in Ceres Crash on Service Road
CERES, CA (December 8, 2021) – Truck driver Jaime Moreno was hospitalized after a DUI crash on Service Road in Ceres.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 65-year-old Ceres man as one of the victims in the wreck which took place on Tuesday.
The incident began when Jaime Moreno was driving a large Freightliner truck west on Service Road in Ceres. At the same time, a 1998 Ford SUV was going east.
CHP said the Ford partially entered the westbound lane into the path of the semi-truck and then sideswiped it. The SUV continued onto the overpass.
In the process, the Ford slammed head-on into a 2021 Dodge pickup towing a trailer traveling west. The vehicles crashed near Highway 99 and Moffett Road.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car, Semi-Truck
The SUV rolled onto its roof and came to rest on the overpass guardrail. The Modesto Bee wrote that the accident occurred on December 7 at about 6:15 p.m.
Jaime Moreno sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. Three out of four occupants of the Dodge ended up pinned inside due to the impact of the collision.
Paramedics took Jaime Moreno to the Doctors Medical Center for treatment. Firefighters extricated the trapped people from the pickup and rushed them to a hospital with minor to major injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP determined that the driver of the Ford was under the influence when the wreck happened. They soon arrested him for felony DUI.
Officers added that the suspect was involved in a non-injury hit-and-run incident before the multi-vehicle collision. The Ceres crash is still under investigation.
