Jair Espinoza Shafter Fatal Shafter Avenue Crash
SHAFTER, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2018) –Jair Ignacio Espinoza, 16, has been identified as the teenager who died in a crash Monday afternoon on Shafter Avenue.
The Shafter High School student was struck by another motorist as he drove in the 500 block of N. Shafter Avenue about 3:30 p.m. yesterday. The crash took place near the Shafter Animal Control Shelter on a two-lane road.
Paramedics rushed the injured teen to Kern Medical, but sadly he later died from his injuries.
“The loss of this young man’s life is a tragedy for Shafter and the entire high school community, according to a statement released by the Kern High School District. “The Kern High School District is devoting considerable efforts to helping our students and staff deal with this loss and we extend our sincere sympathies to the family. Grief counselors are on campus today and their services are available to all students and staff during this difficult time.”
Police are piecing together evidence to determine fault for the collision.
