Desert Hot Springs Man, 83, Killed in Car Accident is Identified
DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. (Sept. 21, 2020) — James Blaise Briel, 83, of Desert Hot Springs, was struck and killed Monday morning on Dillon Road at Agua Caliente in Desert Hot Springs.
The fatal pedestrian accident was reported at 7:05 a.m., just east of Corkhill Road, to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle was reportedly driving about 55 mph when it struck the man, according to the person who called 911 for help. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene about 7:16 a.m., the CHP said. Mr. Briel was later identified by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
It’s unknown at this time what led up to the collision at the intersection near the Caliente Springs Resort, but a full investigation is underway.
