Fatal Scooter Accident Lincoln Boulevard in Venice
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (June 1, 2021) — James Cody Skene, 29, was arrested for DUI after he allegedly struck and killed a 91-year-old pedestrian while riding an electric scooter on a sidewalk in the Venice area.
The young man and a female passenger were riding on a rented scooter northbound on a sidewalk next to Lincoln Boulevard.
About 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 29th they collided into the elderly man near Marco Court.
Upon impact, the pedestrian fell and hit his head on the sidewalk. Also, both James Cody Skene and his passenger were thrown off the scooter fell onto the sidewalk, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Meanwhile, the victim suffered a major head injury and died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim as Yin Wu, 91.
Also, paramedics responded and treated the two scooter riders for minor injuries. Authorities released James Cody Skene on $100,000 bail.
The LAPD’s West Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
