Deadly Rollover Crash on I-8 Freeway Near Ocotillo
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 2, 2021) — James Coe, 63, of Arizona, died Monday in a rollover crash on the Interstate 8 Freeway at Ko-Pah Park Road in the Ocotillo area.
The collision happened about 3:06 p.m. on August 30th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The Arizona man was traveling eastbound in a vehicle on the Interstate 8 Freeway when the vehicle overturned. It’s unknown at this time what led up to the traffic accident. Also, the report didn’t say if he was the driver or passenger in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the vehicle caught on fire and someone called 911 for help. Bystanders managed to get the victim out of the vehicle before paramedics and firefighters arrived.
James Coe was transported to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego where despite lifesaving efforts, he died about 4:09 p.m. at the hospital’s emergency room.
