James Curl, 51, Seriously Injured Angels Camp Head-On Crash on Highway 4
ANGELS CAMP (August 7, 2019) – A driver was seriously injured after a traffic collision along Highway 4 Monday morning, August 5.
California Highway Patrol identified the victim as as 51-year-old James N. Curl, a resident of Vallecito.
According to an article published by The Union Democrat, Curl was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram truck east on Highway 4 when he was struck head-on by a 2006 Toyota Prius.
The Prius was traveling westbound, west of Stockton Road, when its driver crossed over a control line in the middle of the road to pass a vehicle in front.
Andrew Futterman, 30, Badly Hurt in Angels Camp Car Crash
Curl tried to veer to the right to avoid the collision, but ended up colliding with the Toyota driven by 30-year-old Concord resident Andrew Futterman.
Both Curl and Futterman were airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. The accident took place at approximately 8:42 a.m.
Meanwhile, authorities are still investigating the incident. CHP believed that the wreck was caused by the alleged unsafe passing of Futterman.
