James Evans, 31, Badly Injured in Los Molinos Head-On Crash on Highway 99
LOS MOLINOS, CA (November 18, 2021) – James Evans was badly injured after a car crash on Highway 99 in Los Molinos.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 31-year-old Oroville man as the victim of the wreck which took place on Thursday.
The incident began when James Evans was driving a 2006 Chevy Silverado south on Highway 99 in Los Molinos. At the same time, a 2018 Toyota 4Runner was going north.
CHP said the driver of the Toyota, 46-year-old Saul Santiago, veered into the southbound lane for an unknown reason. He then slammed into the Chevy head-on.
2 Cars Collide
The two cars crashed, just north of Tehama Vina Road, and came to a rest with major front-end damage. The Red Bluff Daily News wrote that the accident occurred at around 2:15 a.m.
James Evans sustained moderate injuries as a result of the Highway 99 crash. Paramedics rushed him to the Enloe Medical Center in Chico for treatment.
Firefighters extricated Saul Santiago and his two passengers, 23-year-old Edward Santiago and 43-year-old Gudeglia Santiago, from the wreckage. All three are Sparks residents.
Medical personnel took the passengers to the Enloe Medical Center for further aid. They brought the driver to the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital with minor wounds.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the southbound lanes of Highway 99 to shut down for hours following the wreck. The cause of the Los Molinos crash is still under investigation.
