Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck by Vehicle Near Cedar Street
San Bernardino, CA (August 18, 2022) – James Gatson, a 46-year-old man, died following a suspected hit-and-run collision that occurred on Highland Avenue.
The KTLA News reported Gatson was in a wheelchair and attempted to cross Highland Avenue Sunday morning. While crossing the street, a vehicle heading east on the roadway struck the pedestrian. The horrible crash took place around 4:37 a.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the accident scene, they found the pedestrian lifeless. Medical personnel sadly pronounced the man in the wheelchair dead. Authorities later identified the fatal victim as James Gatson, of San Bernardino.
Meanwhile, the article published online mentioned the driver involved in the collision fled the scene. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly accident that happened on Highland Avenue in San Bernardino.
