Fatal Wrong-Way Collision Near Railroad Avenue
Contra Costa County, CA (December 16, 2022) – James Kuang, a 50-year-old man, died following a traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 4.
The East Bay Times News reported Kuang was behind the wheel of a Honda traveling north on the highway. When the Honda approached the area near Railroad Avenue exit, a westbound Dodge Durango veered into the opposite lane and drove into the path of the Honda.
According to the article published online, Kuang attempted to evade collision. However, the Dodge was traveling at a high-rate of speed and crashed into the Honda.
Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Traffic Accident on SR-4
The force from the impact resulted in serious injuries to Kuang. Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office eventually confirmed the identity of the deceased as James Kuang, of Fremont.
Authorities added a passenger in the Honda sustained major trauma as a result of the wreck. Personal information on the injured party remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
After the investigation process, officers arrested the driver of the Dodge on suspicion of murder; driving the wrong way resulting in injury or death; and driving with a suspended license. The suspect was only identified as a 53-year-old Richmond resident.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
